The Culinary Cup is an annual cooking competition where top chef students and their instructors from Los Angeles Trade-Technical, Mission and Harbor Colleges go head-to-head in a daylong kitchen battle for bragging rights and the chance to capture the custom-made, gold chef’s hat perpetual trophy.
The LACCD Communications department and the L.A. Harbor College Foundation drove all the design and PR for the inaugural event. As graphic designer for LACCD, I was heavily involved with the project.

I designed the logo and directed the overall visual style of the event. Above are the two primary marks used on all Culinary Cup materials.
Culinary Cup logo lockups
Metallic gold gradients were used throughout all the materials, evoking the golden chef's hat trophy.
Tickets and program booklet
The logo was embroidered onto the jackets of every student competitor and faculty chef.

I designed the laser-etched medals which were awarded to participants in the three events.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals
The golden chef's hat trophy was awarded to the team which scored highest across the three competitions.
The trophy started with a real chef's hat, which was gold plated and mounted to a walnut base.
